Want to Celebrate Halloween /Samhain the pagan way?
Here are a few of my favourite rituals I’ve been following over the years…
1. Walk in nature:
Go for a meditative walk in nature near your home. Observe and contemplate the colours, aromas & sounds around. Experience yourself as part of the circle of life and reflect on death and rebirth as being an important part of Nature.
2. Ancestors Altar
Create a small altar on your dressing table or desk with photographs of deceased loved ones. Decorate with small candles and crystals. Spend some time here and thank them for being a part of your life. Note down any messages that you may receive.
3. Cemetery Visit
The simplest way to honour the passing of family and friends is to visit and tend to their gravesite at a cemetery. Call to mind memories and consider ways the loved one continues to live on within you. Place an offering there such as fresh flowers, dried herbs (rosemary is one great choice), or fresh water.
4. Bonfire magick
Light a bonfire outdoors or in your balcony in a small cauldron. Write down an outdated habit that you wish to end and cast it into the Samhain flames as you imagine it being released. Imagine yourself adopting a new, healthier way of being as you move around the fire clockwise.
5. Divine Guidance
Tarot, candles, runes or any other form of divination is a must during this time. Seek and reflect on the guidance you receive for the year to come. Write down in your journal about the messages received.
6. Honour the dead
Bury an apple or a pomegranate in the garden as food for spirits passing by on their way. Drink apple cider with spiced cinnamon.
7. Costumes
Dressing up is always fun, isn’t it? Adorn a costume that reminds you of what you wish to be like. Explore your imagination and fanatasy world within.
8. Have fun!
Lastly, enjoy the mystical side of life & celebrate its mysteries! Watch a horror or magickal film or tv show. Cook up a feast! Or bake a cake.
